Hello Everyone!

We are excited to finally announce the formal campaign relaunch of “Second Skin: Imposter!” It has been quite a year to navigate but we are ready to finish our fundraising efforts. Being able to present an excerpt of Second Skin at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park this September, in support of Black Lives, gave us the opportunity to provide emotional healing to our sense of community, AND  examine the vision for this work. Unfortunately, it is confirmed that our residency has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Nevertheless, we firmly believe… when one door closes, another one opens. With this we are thrilled to share that “Second Skin: Imposter” will now be a feature film! Once completed in 2021, we plan to submit this project to various film festivals and when safe, hold a private screening with those who have donated as priority. As an interdisciplinary platform, it is imperative that we present this work through a lens, with an even larger audience. We will still be raising funds to reach our original goal of $15.5K until January 8, 2021! We welcome you to visit our newly updated GoFundMe page if you haven’t yet donated or are interested in learning more. For those who have contributed (even our loyal contributors!), please share with people in your life and any human that is searching for meaning and healing. We thank you for your unwavering support. None of this would be possible without each and every one of you! We look forward to this next development phase of “Second Skin: Imposter.”

Much love,

Damani Pompey

Dear Family and Friends,

It has been a challenging couple of weeks adjusting to the latest news of COVID-19, having to remain isolated in our homes and deal with our current reality. I hope you and your loved ones are safe, as that is imperative at this delicate time. I’d like to thank all of you who have supported me, and my work thus far. Your support increases my belief in the power of art in everyday living.

We have held out as long as possible but with the recent mandate made by Governor Andrew Cuomo, we have been forced to postpone our Kaatsbaan residency and performance until further notice. We are in an ongoing conversation regarding re-scheduling and will inform everyone once we are confirmed. Rest assured, all donations contributed thus far are monitored and secured. The campaign page will remain accessible during this time, and once our communities re-ignite, campaign efforts and announcements will resume. We would like to respect all mental, physical, and financial needs during this time.

We all deserve time to reset. Practice care and optimistic health. I believe we will be able to get through, as long as we remain rooted in community and the groundwork. Please continue to follow updates and previews of our work, on Instagram @magnus.works! Thank you for your time!

Remain safe and healthy,

Damani Pompey

Kaatsbaan Residency

Damani Pompey is thrilled to have been awarded Kaatsbaan’s Upstream Residency taking place this Spring. Kaatsbaan, located in beautiful Hudson Valley, NY, is an international cultural center dedicated to the growth, advancement and preservation of professional dance. Working off his latest project, “SAMARITAN ”, Damani will present "Second Skin: Imposter,” the prequel to “SAMARITAN”, at the culmination of the week-long residency. Given a small stipend, funds are needed to cover all professional production costs - compensating dance artists, musicians, costume designer, sourcing set/prop materials, transportation, groceries, and covering administrative fees. All contributions will go ENTIRELY to supporting this new work. We call upon community to support us as Damani’s Magnus Works platform transitions to a new phase of creation and artistry.

Please, give what you can, tell who you can and join us in this journey together. We are forever grateful for all support and can’t do this without you!
